The Bancroft PTO would like to encourage our children to have fun with math, and is now presenting Math Bug, Bancroft’s math enrichment program.
Each Math Bug packet contains approximately fifteen pages of grade-appropriate math. Each student who participates will receive a small prize. In addition, one participant from each grade will be randomly selected to receive a $5 gift card to Orange Leaf. Lastly, each classroom that has at least 80% participation will receive extra recess. Participation is counted as having completed five (5) pages.
Below is a list of each grade and the corresponding Math Bug packet(s). Appropriate grade level packets are being emailed to each family. Additionally, all Math bug packets can be found on the Bancroft PTO website. Please print the appropriate packet, have your child complete the packet and return it to school by December 2nd.
Note for parents in grades 3 through 5: There are 3 packets available to choose from for each grade. For each grade 3 through 5 there is a packet for students who may need assistance or scaffolding, a grade level packet and a packet for students who prefer a challenge. Parents in grades 3 through 5 should chose the packet that they feel is most appropriate for their child.
Kindergarten=Caterpillar
1st grade=Grasshopper
2nd grade=Beetle
3rd grade=Dragonfly (for those who may need assistance or scaffolding)
3rd grade=Butterfly (grade level)
3rd grade=Firefly (challenging)
4th grade=Millipedes (for those who may need assistance or scaffolding)
4th grade=Cricket (grade level)
4th grade=Praying Mantis (challenging)
5th grade=Jumping Spider (for those who may need assistance or scaffolding)
5th grade=Spider (grade level)
5th grade=Trapdoor Spider (challenging)
Parents, this program is to encourage your child (ren) to think of math as fun and exciting. We hope that you (or a family member) are able to take some time over the next two weeks and work with your child on this packet.
