Activities

The PTO runs events throughout the year as varied and fun as the Bancroft community itself.  For a list of upcoming events view the PTO calendar.

Many events allow us to fundraise in support of PTO initiatives – including academic enrichment, cultural arts programming, and teacher/staff discretionary spending – and some are strictly social events intended to bring people together for fun!  We encourage your participation in as many events for which you have the time & energy.

Social & Appreciation

Bringing the Bancroft community together for fun!
SPRING FLING
The Spring Fling is a fantastic end to the school year, where the student get to bring their parent or other special guests for dancing, snacks, raffles, photos, and other fun.
MOVIE FUN
This annual event gives students and parents/special guests a chance to spend time together while taking in a family-friendly movie and eating dinner. This is typically held at Chunky’s in Haverhill in the spring.
LADIES' WINE TASTING
Come and bring your lady friends and join us for an evening of great wine, great company and great fun at Bancroft’s Ladies Wine Tasting.

Enjoy a room of whites and blushes and a room of red as you journey through wines from the United States and abroad. Appetizers will also be served. All wine is donated by your hostesses and all proceeds go to benefit the Bancroft School.

WINTER SOCIAL
The Winter Social is an annual Bancroft tradition. It’s a casual night-out for Bancroft parents and staff, which features good food, great drinks and outstanding company!! This year’s event is planned for March.
VARIETY SHOW
Bancroft students are invited to bring their best talents and perform on stage at the Collins Center! The auditorium is always packed for this popular spring event.
LOWELL SPINNERS, DAY AT THE BALLPARK
The event is an end of the year Bancroft celebration at the Lowell Spinners. Students participate in the pre-game parade, games and activities between innings and wear their Bancroft spiritwear. For questions, please contact Krista Martin at kristajmartin@gmail.com.
FAMILY NIGHT BINGO
Socialize with friends and other Bancroft families over a fun evening of Bingo. Prizes are awarded!
END OF YEAR PICNIC
The end-of-year picnic gives Bancroft families one last fun chance to hang together out before school closes for the summer.
COFFEES & LUNCHEONS
Several gatherings are scheduled throughout the year, typically beginning with the New Family Introduction coffee during the first days of school and ending with the Teacher Appreciation Lunch on the final day of school.

These activities encourage informal social interaction and allow us to give thanks when needed.

Academic & Cultural Enrichment

Funding teacher-approved opportunities to enhance the Bancroft learning environment.
MATH BUG
Math Bug is an annual math enrichment program where children in all grades are asked to complete packets of fun and challenging math problems at home.

The purpose of the program is to encourage students’ interest in math. Small prizes are given to all students who complete at least 5 pages of their packet.

LEARNING LAB
The Bancroft Learning Lab is an after school program sponsored by the PTO which allows students to sign up for fun and enriching after school classes of interest to them.

Courses are taught by parents and some staff. Past offerings have included math enrichment, building with Legos, martial arts and other fun activities.

SCIENCE FAIR
Bancroft’s annual science fair offers students a fun opportunity to showcase their science experiments to fellow students, parents and the greater Andover community.
ONE MORE STORY, PLEASE
If your children love to tell stories and draw, and would like to see their stories published, then “One More Story…please?”, Bancroft’s writing and illustration project is a great enrichment opportunity for them!

All participants receive a prize, and stories are available in the Bancroft Media Center.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE & GREEN TEAM
The PTO supports these groups in their efforts to encourage Bancroft students, staff, faculty and parents to think and act responsibly and aggressively in matters relating to natural resource consumption, processing and disposal.
CULTURAL ARTS PROGRAMS

The PTO provides funds for teachers to enhance their curriculum by providing unique cultural opportunities to entire grades.

TEAM DISCRETIONARY FUNDS
Grade-level and subject-area teachers can request funds from the PTO in support of specific classroom needs, including art, physical education, music, reading support, math support, and special education.

Fundraising

Raising money, all of which goes back to the Bancroft community.
BANCROFT BUCKS RAFFLE
Bancroft Bucks is the largest PTO fundraiser to support and enrich our Bancroft school academics and environment. This is a raffle based fundraiser with sales beginning in mid-September. Winners are drawn daily Monday – Friday, typically through the month of October, with cash prizes that range from $25 to $500.

Also, student sellers of winning tickets, sellers of $100 or more, and top sellers per grade also win prizes, and the highest selling classroom wins a Pizza Party! Thank you in advance for encouraging your child to sell Bancroft Bucks to your family and friends.

BANCROFT SPIRIT WEAR
Stay tuned for pictures of the exciting Bancroft memorabilia that you can buy, including items such as sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, totes, duffel bags, and PJ pants. Purchasing these items is a great way to support Bancroft while also obtaining some fantastic “Spirit Wear.”
BOOK FAIR
The Bancroft Book Fair is a successful fundraiser held historically both in the fall and the spring. The Book Fair, which is set up like a mini book store at the school, is an easy way to encourage reading, purchase family and teacher gifts, and support the school!

With the help of approximately fifteen volunteers, the Book Fair is a fun week allowing students to browse and shop during their assigned class times and with their parents.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
The PTO collects Box Tops on all qualifying grocery items to earn money for Bancroft.  Please have your child bring your family collection of Box Tops coupons to school periodically in an envelope marked “Box Tops.”

For the full list of Box Top items please see this list on the Box Tops For Education website.

FUN RUN
This spring Bancroft will hold its Annual Book it to the Finish 5k and Kids Fun Run. This event is a wonderful way to bring the community together for a healthy, fun morning.

Even if you don’t have a family of runners, there are plenty of ways to participate. There will be a kids t-shirt design contest, and family sponsors and committee and race day volunteers are all needed.

MOVIE NIGHT
The Bancroft PTO will be sponsoring 3-4 Friday movie nights this year, at which the children will be able to enjoy crafts or activities, a movie, and pizza and popcorn.
PROGRESSIVE DINNER
This yearly event allows you to meet new people and socialize with other Bancroft parents all while helping the PTO.

Make three stops at private residences throughout Andover – first for appetizers and cocktails, next for a home-cooked dinner, and finally for dessert – all while supporting the PTO.
